What's up guys, update just dropped! It sure is something to try and decipher, huh. We've got pages of new stuff to go over, so let me learn you a thing about all the events and mishaps that happened on the server this week!

The Nether Angel, the Bird, withers away. Bibi mourns their friend, but does unlock an eye for the Eye Spy puzzles.

Peachy builds a precious pink cottage in a cherry grove. Zpca has guests in the evil lab, sure hope no experiments happen. Desnay has some deep-sea shenanigans with friends, and tames a Little Creature! Not a character creature. This is a mob that looks like a teddy bear.

A group of residents discover the chat bubbles mod, a mod that places typed chat messages above the player's head in a box. Some eggs discover how to imitate each other, so good luck telling which Salem is the real Salem. Residents also rediscover drugs and alcohol.

Two of the robo crew glow in the dark quite nicely! Also, turns out you can wear blackboards with drawings on them on your face as a mask. Now to find out what the point of the mask is.

Splat builds a manor in the mystic grove. Next on FOV competitions, we have a new record for how do you play like this. The other members of popcorn's family have a nice photo with normal fov.

Peachy does some interiors of the cottage! Some lore is silly and fun. Some lore is a kid watching a sister get killed by an uncle. The range of human emotion. And some lore is killing a g-d.

But don't worry! Residents have some very healthy coping mechanisms. And some kinning of that Russian guy who tried to grow a homunculus son using chicken eggs and genetic material. Don't forget the very normal coping dinner, that is vital.

I’m probably not gonna tag this with anything so those who see it get to see it I guess, but uh… I’m probably gonna step away from Tumblr for a day or two? It feels weird posting my bullshit about my little OC’s rn in this exact moment, but also I didn’t want my most recent post to be the last post I have before I dip out for a few days, cause that’s not the vibe I want my online presence to have, so uh… what’s a history fact I can share-

Did you know that the term “Teddy Bear” was originally a political statement? “Teddy’s Bear” was a reference to a tied and wounded black bear that US President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot because it was “unsportsmanlike”, and the term (written with a nickname he notoriously hated) was intended to be satirizing his decision in the media by a political cartoonist of the time. It just so happened that a man who made stuffed animals (or maybe his wife did? I can’t remember) saw the newspaper comic and decided to dedicate one of their plush toys to the President, and his stance against hunting the trapped bear. After naming it “Teddy’s Bear”, that was the name that became associated with the common design of stuffed bear toy! I think someone made something similar in Germany at the same time but the name never stuck. But yeah that’s a cute little history story which I’m pretty sure is mostly historically accurate. There’s records and stuff I think, I just am not in the headspace to find them-

When she was twenty, Chiron had decided to rerecord and rerelease the New York City Ballet’s Nutcracker for PBS broadcast. The year before, when she was only nineteen, so many girls had been injured that she ended up doing about fifteen Marzipan lead performances, and another ten in the Marzipan corps. She worked every show from December 23 through December 27th, all Marzi. By New Years, she was pan fluted out.   

The next year, when it came time to cast the broadcast, Chiron rewarded her dedication and cast her as Marzipan lead. She was the youngest and lowest-ranked featured artist in the broadcast, but no one could deny she’d worked for it. Now, when you looked up her name on YouTube, her Marzipan was still the first thing you saw.

Bee starts crying more, he was terrified and in pain, and confused. He watches as Price and the others walk off and Gaz and Teddy look back at him one last time before Gaz shakes his head, climbing into the truck and driving off leaving Bee for dead.

Bee looked up crying and in pain wondering what he did wrong. He was scared and confused, his body was burned, cut, beaten, bruised by everything and half his leg was trapped under some debris. His hair was burned, his mouth was cut, his throat was damaged from getting smoked and dust in it. Blood was everywhere from his injuries, he didn’t know what he did wrong he just sat there and cried.

One month after the fire-

7-11 walked into Beny’s medical room looking at the bandage covered man before looking at LoveHurt

7-11-“Is he going to be ok?”

LoveHurt-“yeah, he’s just badly shaken up and traumatized. He might need to learn how to walk right to, but he’s badly burned, and his other scars look like child abuse and self harm.”

Beny shrugged slightly, 7-11 looked at LoveHurt who left and after a bit brought some food.

LoveHurt-“I just made him some chocolate chip pancakes, I thought it would be soft enough..”

LoveHurt set the food down on a tray in front of Beny and backed up a bit. Beny took a bite of one. It was the best thing he ever had in a long, long time.

One year after the fire-

Beny sat by himself in the common room of Shadow Company, his crutches rested against the couch. Oak walked in and looked at him and sat next to him, and tried to pull his hood down but Beny flinched and Oak stopped.

Oak-“you’re so jumpy, poor thing.”

Beny-“do you think I’m ugly… or weird…?”

Oak paused and looked at him, Pixel’s hair was still uneven and his left eye still wasn’t the best, Beny wouldn’t be the best looking person in public but everyone, at least people who cared for him found him adorable and or “ok” to look at.

Oak-“so what if you are? My tooth is chipped and I'm a flirty Scottish Jackass, that makes me weird and ugly but I’m not ashamed of it. And you shouldn’t be ashamed of yourself, I find you pretty attractive~ especially when you signed your contract in your blood, that was pretty hot for a freshly burnt guy~”

Beny looked at Oak before blushing badly and looked away, Oak chuckled and gave him a small kiss on the lips making Beny blush harder.

2 years after the fire-

The year Oak died. Beny’s world was taken from him right in front of his eyes, the last warm touch of Oak’s hand made everything shatter in him. He was actually feeling better before that day. May 29th of 2023 Oak was shot and killed. Everything changed. Beny took on the name “Pixel” or “The Shadow Demon” and he became colder. More angry at everyone lashing out, starting fights even with 7-11, the only emotions in him were anger, fear, and sadness. He was mostly afraid.

His scars healed but he was still mentally damaged by the fire, and his trust fell apart and he struggled a lot. He couldn’t even bring himself to vent, he couldn’t come up with words and even if he did he sounded like one of those emo depression stories and couldn’t take the heavy feeling of disgust in a space he thought he could feel safe, and he didn’t want to bother 7-11. He even attempted once but couldn’t do it. He felt like he was feared and thought that his depression was so bad that he thought it made others think he was some cringe character in a movie so he stopped asking for anything.

All he wanted was a hug or someone he could feel safe with. Thankfully he did which made him a bit better.

3 years later after the fire(now)-

Pixel definitely felt a bit better, sure he’s still struggling with some stuff, but Mori just reminded him of himself in a way. So he treated Mori how he always wanted to be treated back then and today, with love and respect. Pixel loves 7-11 but isn’t the same level with [RED] but he doesn’t dislike him too much, he just had bad experiences with Price and his real father, Edward Tomson, was M.I.A and Pixel excepted that he’s most likely dead. But [RED] can cook chocolate chip pancakes so that’s a bonus for Pixel.

Pixel doesn’t flinch too badly but the way he was hurt by the world will always stick with him and doesn’t want the same to happen or happen again to others. The person he’s the most protective of is 7-11, he doesn’t think that 7-11 understands or knows how much he loves and cares for him, sure he hurts and lashes out on 7-11 once in a while and to other people, but he doesn’t enjoy it, especially when he hurts someone he loves.

Storia Di Musica #348 - Jimmy Raney, A, 1957

La Storia della Prestige Records è anche la storia di una intera generazione di musicisti che ebbe la possibilità di incidere, sebbene in modo anticonvenzionale, con la creatura di Bob Weinstock. Weinstock è famoso per altri motivi, su cui ritornerò nelle prossime storie, prima fra tutte la sua estrema "parsimonia" economica, eppure fu un grandissimo talent scout, con un fiuto davvero notevole, tanto che fu fenomenale nel far registrare più cose possibili ad artisti che sapeva sarebbero poi andati verso concorrenti più grandi ed economicamente attrezzati. Oltre a ciò, viveva un eclettismo di produzione che pochissime case editrici avevano: registrò dischi di arpa jazz, duo e trio con strumenti inusuali, persino di musica d' avanguardia (i tre album che Louis Thomas Hardin, conosciuto come Moondog, incise per la Prestige tra il 1956 e il 1957). Il disco di oggi segue un'altra delle passioni di Weinstock, la chitarra jazz. E mise sotto contratto uno dei più fenomenali chitarristi del bop jazz, Jimmy Raney.

Originario del Kentucky, Raney giovanissimo sostituì alla chitarra Tal Farlow, altra leggenda dello strumento e soprannominato Octopus per le sue grandi mani, nel Trio di Red Norvio, altro gigante, vibrafonista, soprannominato Mr. Swing. Parallelamente all'impegno con il trio, è scelto da Stan Getz per una collaborazione che fece scuola, e che regalò a Raney una fortissima fama: nel 1956 vinse il prestigioso concorso della rivista Downbeat come miglior chitarrista del jazz. Eclettico, capace di spaziare tra i vari generi, Raney fu prolifico nonostante due limiti: le sue dipendenze, soprattutto dall'alcool, che lo terranno spesso lontano dalle scene nella seconda parte della sua carriera, e un impedimento fisico, cioè la Sindrome di Menière, una patologia dell'orecchio che gli provocava vertigini, nausee e drammatici momenti dove muoveva in maniera incontrollata gli occhi verticalmente.

Per la Prestige, oltre che come sessionista, incise due dischi, uno in coppia con Kenny Burrell, altro grandissimo chitarrista, (2 Guitars, del 1957), e il disco di oggi, dove come poche volte la chitarra è protagonista in un quartetto jazz. A è composto da diverse sessioni di registrazione, tenute nel mitico Van Gelder Studio di Hackensack, New Jersey, tra il Maggio del 1954 e due giorni, a Febbraio e Marzo del 1955. Insieme a Raney ci sono John Wilson alla tromba, Hall Overton al pianoforte, Teddy Kotick al contrabbasso e due batteristi Art Mardigan (nella registrazione del 1954) e Nick Stabulas (in quelle del 1955). Nei brani si sviluppa tutto l'ecclettismo e la maestria del chitarrista e il suo valore come band leader. Si sperimenta persino l'overdubbing nella spettacolare Minor, brano autografo di Raney, (che si basa sui cambi di accordi di Bernie's Tune); bellissima è anche Double Image (ispirata a There Will Never Be Another You), più un contrappunto selvaggio improvvisato tra Raney e il pianista Hall Overton in On the Square e un'intricata interpretazione della ballata Some Other Spring. John Wilson viene aggiunto alla tromba per la seconda e la terza data in studio, che consistono principalmente di standard. La vivacemente swingante Spring Is Here, una dolce What's New? di Bob Haggart e una delicatissima You Don't Know What Love Is, che dopo il successo come canzone di film anni '40 era diventata in breve tempo uno standard dopo la registrazione che Miles Davis ne fece nel 1954. Raney ebbe una seconda, ma minore, fama all'inizio degli anni '70, quando firmò un contratto per un'altra casa discografica del jazz indipendente, la Xanadu, con cui incise un bellissimo album, Influence, del 1975. Con lui in quegli anni suonava suo figlio Doug, chitarrista anch'egli, e un altro figlio musicista, Jon, cura un sito memoriale, The Raney Legacy, che raccoglie materiale sul padre e figlio chitarristi. Quando morirà, nel maggio del 1995 a soli 67 anni, il New York Times gli dedicherà un lungo articolo omaggio, descrivendolo come "one of the most gifted and influential postwar jazz guitarists in the world".

D: Well, I suppose we’d have to talk about it eventually. It changed everything, you know?

T: What’s there to say? One day, there’s just ocean, the next, there’s some islands in it.

D: There’s more to it than that. The Nowhere Islands were a total disaster when Lucas pulled the final needle. It was really scary. I thought we were goners, to be honest.

T: Duster… um… you don’t have to talk about it, if you don’t want to.

D: No, no, it’s fine. That part was bad, but a lot of good stuff happened afterwards. Once the smoke cleared, we realized that there was an entire new… world around us. We used to be the only place where people could live, but now, there were whole continents filled with new people and places.

T: The news went crazy with all this talk about “an island cluster appearing in the middle of the ocean.” I didn’t think it was real until I saw the video.

D: Everyone started calling it the “Smush,” because it was like two universes smushed together to become a new one. At least, I think that’s why they call it that.

T: Nobody really knows why it happened. Guess I ought to be glad that it did, though.

D: Why’s that?

T: ‘Cause I met the best roommate and cohost I could ask for, dumbass.

D: Aww, Teddy… Thanks. That’s pretty much what I was gonna say.

What if Teddy was in on what’s actually happening in the OIAR and now that he’s gone Lena needed to find a replacement and that’s why she promoted Gwen.

Mr. Puzzles fiddled with the lock, someone must've closed the studio, he hoped that nobody took anything. He was trying to open it with a lock pick you had given him, you were nearby playing with your teddy bear and a cool rock you found. After minutes of trying, the door finally unlocked. Mr. Puzzles sighed in satisfaction and picked you up, he carried you inside. He turned on the lights, thankfully, everything was still here. You looked around in awe, you had never been inside of a studio before, it was so interesting and cool to you. Mr. Puzzles noticed your amazement and smiled, he set you down onto the floor. You ran around, exploring the place and touching new things, you picked up a camera and began recording Mr. Puzzles cleaning up the place. "Here is my friend, Mr. Puzzles! He is currently cleaning up the place after an earthquake wrecked it!" You said, doing a documentary narrators voice. Mr. Puzzles laughed and took the camera from you, "Actually, an earthquake did not happen. A moron came here and wrecked everything." He said, annoyed at the memory, where everything went to sh- crap. Censor yourself, there's a kid here. You climbed onto a tall chair and looked at Mr. Puzzles, grumbling and muttering words that you couldn't quite hear, but you guessed that he was cussing out someone. You tilted your head in curiosity.

"Did the moron hurt you?" You asked. Mr. Puzzles paused and sighed, he nodded. You leaned over and patted him on the shoulder, he smiled. He ruffled your hair, you giggled and tried to pull away. He noticed your torn up teddy bear. "Is that your toy?" You nodded and held it up. "This is Hugs. I found him one day while I was searching for food in the dumpster, he protects me from the monsters in the dark." You said smiling. Mr. Puzzles frowned, he didn't like the way you had to look in garbage for food. He took Hugs out of your hands and observed it. Hugs has definitely seen better days. A ton of crudely sewn stitches, a lot of patches, very dirty, was missing a button, had a missing arm, and was that mold? He looked at you and smiled. "Do you wanna see a magic trick?" He asked. You nodded quickly. You loved magic tricks, your former caretaker used to show you some. He snapped his fingers and a magic aura circled around the bear, and with a blink of an eye, Hugs was all fixed up! He was fully cleaned up, he had his arm and buttons intact, and he didn't have stitches or patches anymore, Mr. Puzzles even gave him blue overalls with a yellow shirt and a bowtie. You squealed in joy, you grabbed Hugs and hugged him tightly, you were smiling and giggling the entire time. Mr. Puzzles found it adorable and ruffled your hair. He sighed and looked at his watch, 9:42 pm. Almost time to turn in. He picked you uppp and carried you to his bedroom, where he changed you out of your clothes and into some unused Puzzlevision pajama merch. He tucked you into bed and sat down next to you, as he gave you Hugs, you grabbed onto his sleeve. Frowning at him. He tilted his head at you, confused.

"You won't leave me, right?" You asked, your lips quivering as you teared up. You remembered how people would treat you well before abandoning you. How many foster parents would be kind to you and once you settled in, you were thrown back into the system, to be abused by your caretakers and other orphans. You remember when you were on the streets and an adult would take care of you and you started to get attached to them, and then they would leave you to die. Mr. Puzzles wiped away your tears, he looked very serious, and you felt scared. "Y/n. I know what it's like. To be alone at such a young age. I don't want you to experience what I did. You fixed me, you helped me, and now I want to repay the favor, by taking care of you. I promise, I will never abandon you. I won't." Mr. Puzzles said. You sniffled and held up your pinky finger. "Pinky promise?" Mr. Puzzles smiled and wrapped his pinky finger around yours. "Pinky promise."

You smiled a bit and wiped your nose, you drifted off to sleep as he turned off the lights and left the room.
